I’m Chris, the Landlord (and chief bottle-washer, cleaner, etc). My partner is Kate, the Landlady and also the one responsible for the great food.

Here at the Wheatsheaf we really do try and make your visit an enjoyable one. You’ll be welcomed with a smile and some Yorkshire humour (if we know you well enough). Everyone is welcome, whether you’re here for a meal or just a drink.

If you are dining with us, come to the bar and let me know. I’m always there to greet you (unless I’m washing up). We’ll organise your drinks and a table, and give you some time to look through the menu. Once we’ve taken your order, you’ll be left in peace. Your food is delivered to your table and we’ll check in a while that all is OK. After that we won’t pester you. If you need another drink, either grab someone’s attention or simply come to the bar and we’ll sort you out. And be assured, we won’t be rushing you to give up your table once you’ve finished. IT’S YOUR TIME, YOUR MONEY, YOUR TABLE for as long as you like.

We’re fair with everyone. We don’t charge ‘Over the Top’ prices because we don’t have dozens of staff milling round pestering, thus saving everyone money. And we don’t offer ‘Posh Nosh’. Indeed we’re proud of what we offer, good, traditional, ordinary food. For a great time, no heirs and graces, come and try us. What have you got to lose?
