Well, where do I start? Here we are, a small country pub located in the picturesque village of Oulton, one mile from Stone town, in Staffordshire.
I’m Chris, the landlord, (and chief bottle-washer, cleaner, etc. etc.) My partner Kate, the Landlady, is also the one responsible for the wonderful food.
Here at the Wheatsheaf (or Wheaty as it’s become affectionately known to some) we really do pride ourselves on making your visit an enjoyable one. We like to think of the ‘Wheaty’ as a more relaxed, friendly pub and restaurant. You’re welcomed with a smile, and maybe a joke if we know you well enough. And don’t forget, we’re not JUST a dining venue. You’re welcome to call in just for a drink too.
If you are eating with us, come to the bar, let me know (I’m usually there to greet you-unless I’m washing up). I’ll sort you out with a drink(s) then sort you out a table. We’ll give you some time to browse through the menu, then either myself or one of the staff will take your order. Once you’ve had your meal delivered to your table, we’ll give you a few minutes to try it, then come and check on you. Hopefully all will be OK. Then you’re left in peace. If you want another drink, come and see me. Let me know what you want and I’ll bring them over. Once you’ve finished your meal, we’ll clear your table, sort out whether you would like desserts or not. But then you’re left in peace again. We won’t pester you into giving your table up for the next diners. It’s YOUR time, YOUR money, YOUR table, for as long as you want it.
At the end of the day, we’re fair with ALL our customers. We don’t charge you ‘Over the Top’ prices. We’re pretty sure we’re cheaper than many other venues offering the same quality food. We don’t have dozens of staff milling round which means we can keep our prices down. We don’t offer ‘posh’ food. Indeed we’re proud of what we offer. Good, traditional food, at great prices, in a lovely atmosphere. If you want a relaxing time out, no heirs or graces, then we’re the place for you. Come and try us. You’ve nothing to loose ...
